New Site SEO Checklist
Technical Setup
Make sure your site:

I once skipped submitting a new site to Search Console and wondered why it wasn’t ranking. As soon as I submitted it, pages started indexing within 24 hours.

Site Structure
Your site should have clean, short URLs like /services or /about-us. Avoid long strings with dates or unnecessary words. Keep the navigation simple and link key pages from your homepage.

On-Page SEO Checklist
If your content isn’t optimized, it won’t rank. This on-page SEO list is what I follow every single time.
Meta Tags
Every page should have a unique meta title and description. Use your main keyword early in both. For example, for this post I used: “SEO Optimization Checklist: Ultimate Guide for 2025.”
Headings
There should be only one H1 tag per page. Use H2s for section headings and H3s for subpoints. Don’t force keywords in headings—use them naturally.
Content Structure
Within the first 100 words, mention your primary keyword. Break long paragraphs. Use lists or bullets where they make sense, like here:

Also, use synonyms and related terms throughout your content. This boosts semantic SEO.
Internal and External Links

This is where many people get lazy. But ignoring technical SEO can cost you rankings.
Speed

Compress images, remove unnecessary plugins, and use browser caching. I cut a site’s load time from 5.6s to 1.4s and saw a 35% boost in organic traffic within 3 weeks.
Indexing
Check Google Search Console regularly. Make sure your important pages are indexed and you’re not blocking them with a “noindex” tag.
Mobile Usability
Over 60% of traffic is mobile. If your site doesn’t pass Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test, fix it. That includes readable fonts, proper button spacing, and responsive design.
SEO Content Checklist
Creating SEO-friendly content isn’t just about keywords.
Write to Solve Problems
Google rewards useful content. Write naturally, answer questions, and don’t fluff your paragraphs with filler.
Keyword Usage

Use your main keyword in:
